I have to agree with your criticism of the synod critics. They want to return to the Father Knows Best era, and there is no going back. At least some of the synod critics are led by Society for Tradition, Family and Property. Its now deceased founder Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira established the group in Brazil and was nostalgic for monarchism and traditional social hierarchies, while hating on the 20th century and indigenous and Jewish people. I think the Brazilian group Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira started has disintegrated, but here it’s still active, if marginal, in the U.S. They are best known for their “America Needs Fatima” campaign.

I hadn’t heard about the Society for Tradition, Family and Property. I’ll have to look into that, thanks for letting me know!

The American branch is run by a guy named Preston Noell. They show up periodically in public cosplaying with swords and capes and carrying banners, and they don’t exactly resemble the K of C. I think their idea of men’s fashion is stuck somewhere in the Renaissance. They periodically come out to protest abortion and Seton Hall’s student run radio station for playing heavy metal music. I’ve never seen them in person, just press photos. They seem to have one foot in the trad world, and another foot in the sede world.

I’d recommend looking up the Wikipedia articles on Plinio Correa de Oliveira and Tradition, Family Property from there. Not surprisingly, Plinio hated Vatican II.
